Learn to Play
New to American Mahjong? Start here!
Our beginner classes are designed for people who have never played or are still learning the basics. We’ll walk you through the tiles, the card, the Charleston, Jokers and how to put it all together.
The first hour covers the basics, and the second hour is all about actually playing a game with help along the way.
No experience needed and you don’t need to bring anything — we provide the Mahjong sets.
Open Play
Want to play but don’t have a regular group? Join us for one of our Open Play sessions!
Some sessions are geared toward newer players who know the basics but could use a little more practice, while others are for more experienced players ready to jump right into the game.
Come on your own or bring a friend. We’ll help put tables together so you can play, meet other Mahjong players and maybe even find your new regular group.
$20 per person for two hours of play, including a charcuterie cup and one adult beverage.
A minimum number of players is needed for Open Play. If we don’t have enough players registered, the session may be canceled, or depending on the number of players, you may play with fewer than four at your table.
Check our calendar under Events for upcoming Open Play dates and which level each session is designed for. If you can’t make one of these sessions please email us at martha@greymossinn.com and let us know your availability and your level of play and we will do our best to pair you up with other players looking for a group.
